I was thinking that a new game type would be good and very very easy to implement. A lot easier than the legends game.

The game type I was thinking about could be called a "History game" or a "past game" it would work like this.

The game starts with teams and squads from the syart of the 96/97 season. So if you take Aston Villa you would have the likes of Steve Staunton and Dwight Yorke etc etc.
This would be very little work and would only require a look at the below link I will put up.

I think this is a cracking idea.

It would be great to have a game from back then as this was probably the age most of us had the Jerseys with Wright, Shearer, Fowler etc on our backs.

Would love to see this as a HFG as would be great to see how teams progress over the seasons.

UE could add in players on the TL as they start to come into the game in the following years, wouldn't it be great to see a M. Owen with 10 speed on the TL a couple of weeks before EOS etc.

Could be good for a normal game but not HFG

HFG 117 is almost in season 5 and is still going strong thats nearly two years since it started no need to change a good thing ! :)

A taster of what squads would look like.

I don't want legends game's to be too common, and they're not for everyone, so the plan is the next couple of games at least won't be legends game. When the next one is launched, there are many ways it could be done and how it is done can certainly be discussed. This idea has it's merits, but as said, there will inevitably be player overlaps, and I don't think it's something that would serve the smaller teams.

Not with my idea there won't be player overlaps. With my idea every team starts with their squad that had at the start of the 96/97 season. Players can't possibly overlap.

With regards to the next few games being normal I totally agree and the idea was for 2 or 3 games from now.

Thanks for getting back.

Good idea but as UE stated it doesn't make the smaller teams very attractive to managers.

There would be plenty of quality players available at ROTW teams though, and if done in a HFG style the big teams would start in debt.

One idea, I don't know how difficult it would be to implement, would be to only have 4 manageable areas. Say England, Italy, Spain, Germany? Then a minimum of 1 season ticket to get into the game. Max out 8 divisions of 14 = 112 managers.

The quality of ROTW would be excellent then. And European competitions would just have half the teams made up of unmanageable sides, so even trickier to win Europe.

Just a thought!

Yep I would be down for this. But would the game adopt the same player ratings as the legends game? Or would it start like a standard game. I.e lower ratings?
